Which transactions on the time and sales display is a buy or a sale? I always see transactions on the T&S with buy, sale, or trade listed next to them. But isn't every transaction a buy and a sale? How does only one get listed over the other? Now, the transactions listed only with a "trade" action next to them. Trade means change of shares into different hands, correct? If so then why doesn't all transactions be labelled as such. Why is it in a action category of its own when all transactions require a change of ownership over shares. Is it because "trade" implies a transaction with market makers rather than normal shareholders.

One the these requirements is to make 20 debit card transactions. They said "qualifying transactions only include signature, or PIN-based purchases only." No idea what the "signature" part means. How should Hernando treat these transactions for income tax purposes? Gain on the sale of stock held as an investment for 10 months. Gain on the sale of land held as an investment for 4 years. Gain on the sale of a houseboat owned for 2 years and used for family vacations. Loss on the sale of a reconditioned motorcycle owned for 3 years and used for recreational purposes. I'm not sure what the question is looking for in regards to how these transactions should be treated, but if someone could point me in the right direction or explain the answers I would very much appreciate it!! How far back can one research their credit card transactions? The reason for my question is linked to a recent discovery of a false credit card under my social security number. The ironic thing is the card was addressed to the house that I lived in before I joined the armed services. However during the timeframe in which the card was established and apparently used was while I was in Korea, which I have valid records showing that I was in Korea. To further prove my innocence on the card issue, I tried to search my own personal checking card and couldn't filter searches back that far. So is there a certain point that transactions are lost by the credit card companies? Can you ever go back for instance two years and retreive those transactions to see amounts and where the money was spent?
Where can I find electronic information about stock market transactions that is free or very cheap? I would like to write a computer program that analyzes stock market transactions. The problem is I am having trouble finding this information. Where can I find information about the transactions that take place on the market? For example, does the SEC or some other government entity make this info available?
Is there a program that can track hundreds of investment transactions per month? I typically make 500-700 trades per month and have been using Quicken 2007 to track these transactions. FYI, I have access to all major platforms, so Windows, Linux, or Mac software is fine.
How to curtail the speculative global currency transactions? Speculative funds sloshing around the world markets create an inherent instability while undermining the real economy and progressive policies at a national level. Currency speculators trade over 1800 billion US-$ each day across borders - about 90% of the currency trade is speculative! In the globalized economy, there is a lack of adequate funding for global problems such as disease, poverty and hunger. Global climate change, deforestation, population growth and unemployment, declining fisheries and pollution threaten local communities worldwide. Projects which could help to address these needs and create jobs will cost more than 400 billion US-$ annually. Private donors don't meet the need, and some nations have cut their aid budgets. THE PURPOSES OF A TOBIN TAX The primary purpose of a Tobin Tax is to curtail the huge growth in speculative currency transactions. The fundraising potential for meeting essential needs is a further important purpose of this tax. Each trade would be taxed 0.10 to 0.25%. This would discourage short-term currency trades but leave long-term productive investments intact. The currency market would thus shrink in volume, helping to restore national economic autonomy. Nations again could still intervene effectively to protect their own currency from devaluation and financial crisis. With the Tobin Tax, 100 to 300 billion US-$ per year would be generated. This revenue makes it possible to meet urgent global priorities, such as reducing the effects of global warming, disease, and poverty. Revenue could go into earmarked trust funds to fund urgent international priorities.

I live in florida and I've heard that it is illegal to have a limit on credit and debit card transactions although its kind of common. Is this true and if so, who can I contact to report it? Why did WAMU post transactions this morning and then put yesterdays date on them? This happens all the time. The previous days transactions are posted early the following morning. If they post the following morning, then why are they dated for yesterday. It doesn't match my register, it's inaccurate... Sometimes, like the night of my direct deposit, they'll input transactions from the day before and overdraft me despite the fact that there was a deposit made at the same time or even earlier. Does anybody have any hint of an explanation as to why they do this??? These aren't pending transactions. These are hard posted instantaniously.
Why do bank transfers and checks take more time to clear than card transactions? Credit and debit card transactions don't need time to clear. After swiping your card to make a purchase at a store, the merchant's register calls to check your credit line or account balance, immediately takes the funds, and immediately pays the store. Why can't checking/savings accounts work the same way by immediately verifying, debiting, and crediting funds at the time the transfer is made or a check is deposited?
Do pending transactions count as a deductible from your account? Let's say you had a 5 day free-trial for something, the pending transactions state that the amount will be deducted on the date the free-trial ends if you choose to subscribe afterwards, but it still is deducted from the amount of money on your account right? So if you called to cancel before the free-trial ends will they put the money back on to your account?
How comes Chinese wholesalers never use Paypal for transactions? I know soo many different Chinese wholesalers but none of them seem to do Paypal transactions they say i have to pay by Western Union. Is it legal for a bank to rearrange the timing of your transactions? My daughter is 17 and learning how to maintain a checking account... the hard way. I've noticed that our bank collects transactions received by them daily. The actual occurance of the transactions can range in date from 1-5 days. Instead of posting them in order according to the date they were transacted, the bank posts them in order from largest amount to smallest. What this does for the bank is give them more opportunities to apply overdraft fees, if there are to be any. What this does to the consumer is charge them more overdraft fees than should be. The bank is rearranging the timing of withdrawals and charges to their advantage, subjecting the consumer to much higher fees than one would or should expect. Is this legal?
Can Sears look up credit card transactions for returns? bought two sets of curtains on sale, planning to get opinions and return one set. Is there restriction by IRS on number of capital gain transactions (reported in 1099B) for Efiling my reurn? I have got to include about 1700 capital gain/loss transactions as reported by my broker in 1099-B. I used TaxCut software (H&R Block product) to prepare my individual return. But when I wanted to Efile the return there is a message that since I have got more than 250 entries of capital gain transactions, I am not eligible to efile. Instead I have to send a paper return. TaxCur people do not answer properly my question whether it is an IRS restriction not to accept efile with more than 250 CG entries or it is a TaxCut software limitation. Can somebody guide me whether I can efile with any amount of 1099-B entries? If IRS restricts the number of transactions for efile, Then I have a big problem of printing several pages of Schedule - D which costs a lot to print and send. Please send your valuable help in this matter.
Can a bank post transactions on a given day in order to maximize their potential for overdraft earnings? Is this legal? My bank rearranges things after the fact. On Sunday, for instance, they'll have posted transactions in a certain order with Monday's date. On Monday evening, they'll rearrange the transactions in order from largest $$ to smallest amount. This way, if the account goes below zero, they can potentially charge back the customer many overdraft fees, instead of processing the large transaction last, and only charging one overdraft fee.
What banks process transactions instantly? I run a small retail business and I often have to make online transactions to my partners. However, my bank requires to send a mini deposit for each of the new partner's account. This mini deposit is processed within 1-2 business day which is too long for me to wait. Could you please advise banks which can process transactions instantly?
