Why do some sellers block the license plate?

Why do some sellers of used cars block the license plate in their pics? To Uncle Jed, I thought this might be a reason but thieves have 100s of cars to choose from on any given street corner. I've seen sellers block out plates for cars under $2K.

2. With the license plate info I could track down the previous owner of the car and ask them how much they got for thee car when they traded it in...bad for business if I had that info.
3. The reason is so someone cant track the car down and steal it. Especially if its a high dollar car..................UJN
